CHILDREN CHOIR OF MOSCOW MUSIC PEDAGOGICAL SKOLA

The Music Pedagogical College is situated in Moscow in the oldest and picturesque part of the city, which is called Lefortovo. It was founded in 1983. Children aged between 4 and 6 come here to join the preparatory department. Then from age of 7 to 15 they study at the first stage of the College which provides general and musical education. The children get general education of humanities and natural sciences, as well as a deep knowledge of musical subjects – solfeggio and piano playing, violin, violoncello, guitar and wind instruments.
After finishing the first stage students enter the College where they study up to age of 19 and have an opportunity to continue getting musical education. A love for choir singing helps most children choose their profession in future – a musician or a choir conductor. Here they may choose one of the following departments: the choral singing, the musical pedagogical department or the library management department, which is of special interest. The students get secondary and special musical education.
Highly qualified teachers work at our Music School and College. They love children and know how to develop their creative abilities.
All the children are singing in the choirs. There are five main choirs in the College:

  • The Firstform Choir (aged 7)
  • The Junior Choir (aged between 8 and 9)
  • The Children’s Big Choir (aged between 11 and 14)
  • The Student’s Choir (aged between 15 and 18)

All children choir lessons are given twice a week fir two hours. The Children’s Big Choir is comprised of children from four grades: fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth forms. They have an opportunity to sing in the choir for four years, during which the senior students help the younger ones to master the programme and become a good singers.
